Last week, I came across the fabulous startups that received the Harvard Innovation Spark Grants. And here are my favorites:
The Research Science Network: A platform that provides summarized video content in a rapid and concise manner for scientists that struggle in keeping up with current literature.
Erevna: Providing students with online intercollegiate initiatives to conduct research, connect with experts, and create change in public policy.
Try AI: Making AI research more inclusive by inviting students to try it early in their careers and inspiring them to continue.
πAnd the latest tech financing in research and teaching support:
One of my favorite podcasts is βShould this exist?β. The podcast is produced by WaitWhat, the brainchild of a couple of people that were involved in the founding and development of TED. They raised $12 million to grow WaitWhat and to continue to βextend its content into new formats, including tech products, live events, higher education, corporate curriculum, publishing, video and more.β They even have a series fully in VR. I am intrigued!
Tripp works with neuroscientists and psychiatrists, and uses visual and auditory effects in virtual reality to replicate hallucinogens and other interesting things to help with anxiety and mental health. The company raised $11M to make that happen. Who feels like Stallone in Demolition Man?
Bots are resurfacing with Merlyn Mind raising $29 mil!!!! But this time the focus is on the teacher and the assistance is offered in a combination of hardware and software, audio and other.
WUOLAH crowdfunded itself above its β¬250k target. Similar to StudySoup and StuDocu, WUOLAH enables students to exchange class notes and exam prep materials and make money from these. They are focusing on Spanish-speaking countries though.
Have an absolute blast of a week!
